The last day of school is Friday, May 25th with dismissal at noon. The first day back in the fall is Monday, August 20.

Sanford Hospital of Webster is taking registrations for the babysitting course being offered on June 11 for students 11 years of age or older. Registration forms can be picked up in the office and returned with payment to the hospital. Cost is $25 and the class runs from 8:30-4:30 in the community room at the courthouse. Contact Sherry Markve with any questions, 345-3336.
 
HuntSAFE, the course to become a certified hunter, will be in Webster June 7-9 for ages 12 and up or if you are turning 12 before November. To register go to https://gfp.sd.gov/hunter-education/
 
On June 16th there is an excellent figure skating workshop taking place in Sioux Falls for all ages, all levels. All ages and ability levels can benefit from learning the fundamentals of ice skating, including hockey players, special needs, the elderly, young children, and Olympic Champions. Sign-up details are available at www.worldfiguresport.org.
 
Students at Webster Area school will again be collecting used school supplies for the students at Safinatu School in Africa. Boxes will be placed in the Elementary Library. If you want your child's supplies brought home for the summer, please communicate that to your child and your child's teacher. Thank you!

Lynnsey Sichmeller is looking for interested girls in grades 3-7 (2018-2019) who would like to develop their volleyball skills this summer. A flyer was sent home with all the information.
 
To view 'The Super Hero Show' that was performed by K-8 students on Friday, March 23rd, please click on the link. When you open the link, you should have the ability to download the videos in the upper right-hand corner. You can also just view them from the folder. The files are fairly large (approximately 10.3 GB), so it cannot fit onto a normal size writable DVD.
 
Summer custodial workers needed at Webster Area School. Please stop in the Business Office to complete an application.
 
The Webster Area Key Club is once again sponsoring a backpack giveaway for students in grades PreK through 3rd Grade. The backpacks will include school supplies for the specific grade level and will be distributed at the Back-to-School BBQ on August 16th. To request a backpack for your child, all you have to do is submit an email request at websterkeyclub@outlook.com and provide the age/grade of your child.
 
The Day County Farmers Union Camp will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at the Day County Courthouse Room 101. This is for students ages 6-13. See the attached flyer for more information.

Grades 6, 7, & 8 - 1:00-3:00 - June 4, 5, 11, 12-Armory
June 18, 19, 25,26, July 9, 10, 16, 17-High School

Grades 4 & 5 - 8:30-10:00 - June 4, 5, 11, 12-Armory
June 18, 19, 25,26, July 9, 10, 16, 17-High School

Grade 3 - 10:00-11:00 - June 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25,26, July 9, 10, 16, 17-Elementary but may be moved to HS, signs will be put at elementary if location changes from elementary to high school

Grades 1 & 2 - 11:00-12:00 - June 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25,26, July 9, 10, 16, 17-Elementary

Grades and Times: Grades 3-6 1:00-3:00 Grades 7-12 3:30-6:30
Cost: WABA will assist with the price of the Warwick Workouts camp again this year. Last year WABA paid $40 per camper and this year WABA has increase its assistance to $50 per camper.
Grades 3-6: Cost is $99-$50 WABA assistance = $49 total for the 3 day camp
Grades 7-12: Cost is $135 -$50 WABA assistance = $85 total for the 3 day camp

* Additionally each camper will a Warwick Workouts gift: it may include basketballs, t-shirts, shorts, socks, or a hoodie.
WABA Assistance of $50 will be available for up to 60 participants and will be on a first come first serve basis.
* Financial assistance for basketball related camps and activities is available and will be decided on a case by case basis. Please contact a WABA board member with questions.
 
DSU Trojans is hosting a Basketball camp May 29-31 in Madison, SD. Fundamentals day camp for both girls and boys. Open to campers grades K-6 for the 2018-19 school year. Registration forms can be picked up in the office.
 
The Webster Public Library will offer a summer reading program for Kindergarten through grade 6. (This is the grade you completed this year.) The program will run from June 4-27. Registration forms were sent home with each student and need to be dropped off or mailed to the city library by May 31.
 
NAEP Scores - PIERRE, S.D. - South Dakota's math and reading scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress remain at or above the national average. The scores for 2017 were mostly steady compared to 2015, the last time the NAEP was administered. Nationwide, scores held mostly steady in 2017 as well. We no longer have tutoring before school with Mrs. Ewalt, however, students may come to the commons and work on their school work if they need to.
 
Webster volleyball camp July 24-26 for grades 4-12 at the Webster Armory. See the attached registration form for more information.
 
On Feb. 1st, the school district began utilizing Efunds to accept online payments for lunch accounts and armory key card renewals.

If you would like to make online payments, an account can be created through Efunds which is located under Popular Topics on the school district website. Once an account is created a student can be linked to your account using their five digit student number, first name, and last name. If you do not know your child's five digit student ID number, please contact the Business Office at 345-3548.
 
Outside restaurant food is not permitted in the commons area during normal lunch periods. If students do not want to eat school prepared meals, they may bring a sack lunch.
 
Reminder that no student, not on the bus route, may ride the bus without a parent/guardian note to the driver or the parent/guardian contacting Sheyenne Transport to make prior arrangements.
