This message is intended for those who signed up for school meals during the extended school closure. The meals will begin on Monday, March 30. We will provided bagged meals which will include items for breakfast and lunch during the week. A Grab and go will be available 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Mondays and Wednesdays outside the glass door entrance on the north west corner of the elementary gym. Families not able to receive the meals during the grab and go timeline are encouraged to call the school to make other arrangements. Any families who have not yet signed up for meals and would like to, may complete the form using the link associated with this message or you may call the school and leave a message 345-4653 (option #1 or #3). Normally Mrs. Norton visits with classes every other week and individuals as needed. As we continue through distance learning, Mrs. Norton will be adding content to her website and has a form to fill out for any family that would like to continue one-on-ones between Mrs. Norton and their students. Just as a reminder, you are NOT required to use the activities or videos on her site. They are merely supplemental content to help your student continue improving social, emotional, academic skills and career awareness. Tuesday, March 31, will be homework pick up and drop off for grades preschool - 6th grade. Set up will be the same as last week. Some teachers are having pick up and some are not, if you have not heard from your teacher or are questioning anything, please contact your child's teacher. For safety reasons, all homework being dropped off will need to be brought to school in a plastic or zip-lock bag and tied shut when placing it in the appropriate tote. Any questions, please call the child's teacher or elementary office. Next planned drop off and pick up day will be Monday, April 6th for those classrooms needing this. Thank you
 
Pick up's will be on Tuesdays from 3-6 at the armory.
 
Per Governor Noem's recommendation, Webster Area Schools will NOT be in session March 16 through May 1. In order for these days to count as school days (not necessary to make them up), we will continue academic progress through distance learning. Elementary students will have materials to take home. Seventh and 8th grade students will take their Chromebooks home. Secondary students will continue regular school work via Google Classroom and other distance learning resources. Parents are highly encouraged to monitor their child's work and continue regular communication with instructors. All In an effort to limit exposure and the spread of COVID-19, families should follow CDC recommendations and limit social and community activity as much as possible, including limiting social gatherings with friends and fellow students. Also, families should refrain from any unnecessary travel both locally and afar. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
 
Friday, April 17th, is PURPLE UP! for Military Kids Day in South Dakota. The Purple Up! concept is a combined effort with the National Guard Child & Youth Program and communities nationwide to encourage everyone to wear purple as a visible way to show support and thanks to our military children for their strength and sacrifices. Please help us to honor them.Purple Up! shirts are also available to order. Please see the attached flyer for further information. Shirts can be purchased online at https://2020purpleup.itemorder.com, with an order deadline of Friday, March 20th, for shirts to be available in early April. The elementary/middle school student council, along with Tailfeather Photography will be putting together a 2019 - 2020 yearbook for grades preschool - 5th grade. The cost of the yearbook would be $25.00 (includes tax). We need at least 50 yearbooks sold to make this a go. If interested, we will send an order form home with your child. Families in our school district are eligible to participate in a no-cost Kindergarten Readiness program. This unique opportunity for South Dakota families allows for participation in the Waterford UPSTART program to support home-based kindergarten readiness delivered via technology. When parents are given the tools and knowledge to support their children, everyone wins. Every parent is empowered as their child's first teacher right in the home.

FREE to both families and school districts, this program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education called Education, Research, and Innovation (EIR).

Families can register for Waterford UPSTART directly by completing the pre-registration form online at www.waterfordupstart.org or by calling 1-888-982-9898.
 
Please see attached flyer regarding a free vitamin program through Cornwell Drug here in Webster. All you would need to do is fill out an enrollment form and return it to Cornwell Drug. The doors open at 7:50 AM and lock again at 8:20 AM on school days. The doors again open at 3:15 PM and lock again at 8:00 PM daily. The security doors are locked at the main entrances on weekends. Please remember that playground supervision begins at 8:00 AM daily. Students arriving to school prior to 7:50 AM will be required to stay in the entrance area until the doors unlock. Staff shall not allow students in the building prior to this time as there is no scheduled supervision available. Please contact the school if you have any questions regarding the security doors or arrival times in the morning. Thank you.
 
The school district began utilizing Efunds to accept online payments for lunch accounts and armory key card renewals.

If you would like to make online payments, an account can be created through Efunds which is located under Popular Topics on the school district website. Once an account is created a student can be linked to your account using their five digit student number, first name, and last name. If you do not know your child's five digit student ID number, please contact the Business Office at 345-3548.
